The Womb chair and ottoman were designed by Eero Saarinen in 1946. Florence Knoll requested Eero Saarinen to design a chair that could be comfortably seated in any position. Eero Saarinen accepted the request and began to work on several prototype designs. Eventually, he produced a chair that was proven to be comfortable in any position. Initially, this chair was named NO.7, but later became known as the Womb chair.
